Microsoft sponsored project: Microsoft's Smart Personal Objects Technology (SPOT) division will challenge product design, graduate industrial design, and graduate media design students to create "blue sky" concepts for products that would get the reaction: "Wow! This is from Microsoft?" SPOT products provide at-a-glance information through wireless technology in everyday products such as wristwatches. Students' projects will strive to get people excited about the possibilities of the now pervasive wireless technology and mobile computing scenarios. Students will create concepts for 10 to 15 years in the future that are based on the capabilities of the wireless broadcast network that Microsoft is building.
