Toyota Calty sponsored project: The Future of the Scion Toyota has been notably successful in positioning the new Scion brand for its intended Gen Y audience. In order to maintain its position as the youth-market brand, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. and the Toyota design studio Calty Design Research, Inc. asked Advertising and Transportation Design students to develop vehicles and marketing strategies that will best capture the attention of these young customers in the next six to 10 years. Students in these two disciplines, working together in teams, had a great opportunity to explore new ways of creating and marketing products for a young brand looking to establish a sustained and growing presence in the auto industry.
