Biographical history

The Office of Development manages all of the College's fundraising efforts. As of June 2010, the department is divided into the following key areas: Annual Giving, Foundation and Corporate Relations, Major Giving, Data Management, and Alumni Relations.

Originally named Development, the department changed its name to Institutional Advancement around 1991. Beginning in January 2008, the Advancement was re-named Office of Development. In July 2010 the office was combined with Marketing and Communications and was named Department of Development and External Affairs.

Special Events (RG 8.03) was part of Advancement from 1991-2003, after which it moved to Marketing and Communications.

In September 2007 Alumni Relations left Advancement and merged with Career Services (under Student Affairs) and became Office of Career Development and Alumni Relations. They maintained their work, while developing joint projects. In November 2008, Alumni Relations moved back to the Office of Development (formerly Advancement).
