Daimler Chrysler sponsored project: In the 1930s car companies would commission coachbuilders to design distinctive car bodies around a standard chassis. In this tradition, DaimlerChrysler will challenge transportation design students to do the same, applying a modern interpretation of the Chrylser identity to a standard Chrysler chassis. Students will work through three project phases-dream phase, package logic, and execution-focusing on designs that showcase form, beauty, and proportion. The studio will culminate with students exhibiting their work at a mock concours d’élégance staged in the studio, complete with DaimlerChrysler celebrity design judges Trevor Creed and Tom Tremont. Awards will be presented for categories such as “The Iconic Language of Chrysler,” “Best of Show,” and “People's Choice.
Super Thursday event.
