English-born David King (1943-2016) was an artist, designer, editor, photographer, photo historian and archivist, who has been described as “one of the most significant artistic-intellectual personalities of our time.” David King was born in 1943 and studied at the London School of Printing and Graphic Arts under Robin Fior, who describes King’s approach as ‘compare and contrast as a political stance’. From 1965-75 he was an art editor for the Sunday Times Magazine and created a new visual language that gave the magazine a cinematic feel.

King’s Poster collection is the first one in the United States. It includes primarily the political and cultural posters. King’s posters offer a visual history of the global political radicalization of the late 1960s and early 1970s, including the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa and the Anti-Nazi League in Britain​.​
