The Integrated Studies Department records consist of four folders and digital files which are mostly emails related to the Digtal Media Workshops offered by the department.

An older document from 1996, when the department was called Foundation Studies, is from the Chair, Ramone Munoz, regarding the death of faculty member Burne Hogarth. Related is a portfolio of 24 laminated color photocopies of sketches made by Burne Hogarth while teaching Analytical Figure Drawing.

Vernon Simpson Papers

Collection contains personal and professional materials related to the life and work of Vernon Milton Simpson, printer in Los Angeles, California, including his work with California Institute for the Arts.

Items in the collection are predominantly printed works, including pages and final copies of the "Red Books" specimen binders; marketing material for bicentennial posters; and the posters themselves. There is relatively little correspondence or original writings.

Books given as part of the original donation are not included in this description. They can be found cataloged in the online catalog at http://library.artcenter.edu/.

Southern California Cooperative Wind Tunnel publications

This small collection consists of publications about the Southern California Cooperative Wind Tunnel (SCCWT). The tunnel, built in 1945, was owned by four aviation companies and managed by Caltech. The building is now part of ArtCenter's south campus at 950 South Raymond Avenue.

The Bill Meriwether papers consist mainly of photographs taken by Meriwether during his years as a Photography student at Art Center. Of interest is a scrapbook with photographs of a Photography Department beach party after World War II. The letters were written by him and Will Connell and list faculty and students alphabetically and gives updates on their activities and addresses after the war scattered them. Also included are magazine articles about Art Center photography students.

Robert Gage photographs

The Robert Gage photographs are images of an Art Center Photography class field trip to the beach shot by Gage while he was a student. The photos show Eddie Kaminski (and his dog), other students, and a lobster at the water's edge.

The Charlie Potts photographs were primarily taken by Potts while he was a student and consist mainly of portraits of models. Also included are four early photographs of his family members and a few images labelled Preston Duncan Studio.

Harold Stegman papers

The Harold Stegman papers consist of a silent film he created as a student and a book of photographs that supplemented the project. The workprint footage documents the operations of the California Production Service of Southern California, a petroleum company. Also included are two articles about Stegman’s professional work.

Photography Department Field Trip photographs

The Photography Department Field Trip photographs are mainly images of students working on location shoots, most of which are Eddie Kaminski's class field trips. In addition, there are images of student work made on these shoots. These negatives and contact prints are believed to have been donated by an alumnus, most likely Morgan Sinclaire (PHOT 1942) based on the similarities with images in his collection. Some of the names and dates were identified by Richard Ham (PHOT 1951) in 2004.

Pouchée Ornamented Collection

Acquired from the UK-based private press of I.M. Imprimit, the Pouchée Specimen Sheets are a rare collection of antique ornamented types, originally produced at the foundry of Louis John Pouchée (b. 1782, d. 1845). The letters were engraved by hand in the 1820s as patterns from which metal types could be made and sold to poster printers. They are richly ornamented fat-face styles, incorporating images of flowers, fruit, animals, musical instruments, agricultural implements, and Masonic symbols within the letterforms.

John Coleman papers

The John Coleman papers consist mainly of photographs of an Art Center trip to Japan. Coleman, along with President Edward A. Adams, Transportation faculty George Jergenson and alumnus Frank Y. Nakamura (PROD 1956), went to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyoto from November 3 to December 21, 1956 to conduct a series of clinics, lectures, and factory visits to discuss and observe contemporary industrial design.
