The Marion Strahl Boyer photographs consist mainly of images taken by Strahl during Art Center Photography Department field trips in 1942. Of interest is a trip to Yosemite with instructor Ansel Adams. Also included are photocopies of two magazine articles about Art Center photography students and six advertisements for Art Center School.

R. Thomas Schorer papers

The R. Thomas Schorer papers consist of correspondence, clippings, and cartoons from his time at Art Center as a faculty member and Trustee, 1980s-1990s. The correspondence, much of it photocopies, are letters and memos about Art Center from faculty, administrators, and the Board, including those documenting student unrest over rising tuition and costs. Of note are Virginia Legakes Adams's letters addressed to President David R. Brown and the Board giving her opinions on the state of the school.
Also included in this collection are political cartoons that have been photocopied and altered to comment on the Art Center administration and clippings from Los Angeles area publications about Schorer, Art Center, and its alumni. There are a few memorials for former Art Center faculty, as well as black and white photographs of Schorer and fellow Art Center faculty members Jim Jordan and Wally Bennett.

Ken Eskenazi papers

Lyman S. Reed photographs

The Lyman S. Reed photographs are his work while he was a Photography student at the Art Center School in the 1950s. This comprehensive collection covers assignments such as portraiture, food, advertising, exposure, and texture. Because Reed had an interest in architecture, he photographed quite a few office buildings and mid-century residences. The projects are completed brochures and assignments he presented for critique in class. Also in this collection are a few objects used by Reed while a Photography student, including his exposure meter and film holders.

Notes on the negative sleeves (usually camera settings used) as well as explanatory Post-It notes from the donor on items in the collection have been transcribed into the Notes fields.

This collection contains photographs of the Art Center campuses in Los Angeles and Pasadena, including the grounds, exteriors and interiors of the buildings, and construction projects. Of particular note are images that document the construction of the Hillside Campus in Pasadena from 1975.

This small collection related to transportation design was donated by John Treacy to Art Center after a nostalgic visit to the campus. It consists of photocopies of two letters and two automobile sketches, and four photographs of car designs by John Treacy and J. Gordon Legg.

The Channing Gilson papers consist of promotional items for his industrial design business and correspondence related to Art Center's fundraising campaign for the new Pasadena campus, a copy of his diploma, and a few Society of Art Center Alumni items.

Jim Bertoglio papers

A 26-page book of black and white photographs titled "Parachutes" taken by Jim Bertoglio while a student at the Art Center School. The book was most likely created as a promotional tool to advertise Cole of California's participation in the War efffort. It includes images of company employees sewing parachute components and assembling the packs. The book is spiral bound with a clear acetate cover.

This collection consists of documents, such as award certificates given to Archetype Press, project planning records, and open house invitations. There are some examples of student work, notably pages from an unpublished project of Robert Bly poems.

Some publications prior to 1989 are not technically from the Archetype Press, but are still included here, as precursors to similar projects that would eventually be produced by the Press and that department.
