Biographical history
John Lichtenwalner (ILLU 1949) was born on August 28, 1921 in Seattle, Washington. He attended the Art Center School on the G.I. Bill after spending World War II as an Air Force pilot on photo reconnaissance missions. After graduating, he moved to San Francisco and was a commercial artist in advertising, in addition to freelancing. In the 1970s he worked for Harry & David as a catalog illustrator, until his retirement. He died on January 4, 2016 in Jacksonville, Oregon.
