Biographical history

Gordon E. Smith (PHOT 1950) attended the Art Center School on the GI Bill. After returning to New York, he worked for a studio until he started on his own in 1961. He specialized in food photography which he shot for almost all of the "Seven Sisters" (Redbook, Woman's Day, etc.) as well as cookbooks.

The Gordon E. Smith papers are mainly images taken by Smith while he was a student and as a professional food photographer. Also included is a packet from the Art Center School consisting of a cover letter, his grade transcript, and a Certificate of Completion.
