Biographical history

C. Orval Selders (TRAN 1954) was born in Oakland, Iowa on January 25, 1926. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was at the invasion of Iwo Jima. He attended the Univesity of Nebraska on the G.I. Bill but left to study industrial design at the Art Center School. After graduating, he worked for Raymond Loewy at Studebaker and in 1955, went to General Motors where he worked as a designer for over 25 years. In retirement he worked for his friend Larry Shinoda at his design studio. He died on November 16, 2019 in Murrieta, California.
