Hal Stegman (PHOT 1951) entered Art Center School in 1948, after serving in the European Theatre in WWII. He graduated in 1951 specializing in Cinematography. After graduation, Hal accepted an appointment to the Petroleum Extension Service at The University of Texas developing educational training films for the petroleum industry. He was responsible for the development of training films for numerous State agencies, the most notable being "In A Strange Land" for the Hogg Foundation and "Here's Texas" for the Texas Highway Dept. Hal retired from the University of Texas in 1987.

Silent workprint footage showing the operations of the California Production Service of Southern California, which was a petroleum company focused on oil well repair and service. The film was created by Stegman in 1951 for a final graduation project. Opening credits are: California Production Service of Southern California, Harry H. Hillman, President Presents" Hillman agreed to finance the project if he filmed the operations of the CPS.
